Notice of Board Vacancy
The Upper Big Blue Natural Resources District (NRD) hereby announces a vacancy on its Board of Directors and is seeking applicants to fill a Sub-District 8 position.

In accordance with Nebraska state law, the Board of Directors will appoint a qualified individual to serve the remainder of the unexpired term. Individuals who meet the eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility Requirements
•    Must be a registered voter. 
•    Must reside within Sub-District 8 of the Upper Big Blue NRD (see maps and description below). 

Application Process
Interested individuals must submit a letter of application addressed to the General Manager. At a minimum, the letter must include the applicant’s place of residence and indicate that the applicant is a registered voter. Applicants are also encouraged to provide additional information regarding their qualifications, experience, and interest in serving on the Board.

Application materials must be received at the Upper Big Blue NRD office no later than 5:00 p.m. (CDT) on July 15, 2026.

The Board of Directors will review all submissions and may conduct interviews prior to appointment. The appointment will fill the remainder of the current term, ending January 2027, with the opportunity to run for election in the next general election cycle.

Board Responsibilities
The Board of Directors establishes District policies and approves major projects, while NRD staff implement those policies and manage the day-to-day operations of the District. Board members should expect to devote approximately three to four days per month to District business.

About the Upper Big Blue NRD
The Upper Big Blue NRD serves all or portions of nine counties and is responsible for a variety of natural resource management programs and services, including groundwater regulation, soil and water conservation, flood prevention and control, forestry, wildlife habitat, and parks and recreation.
