Close enough to the Utica exit on I-80 to make it an easy drive, but far enough away you won’t be bothered by traffic noise, you’ll find a picturesque 20-surface acre lake surrounded by trees and prairie grasses. A boat dock invites you to glide into the water in a kayak or canoe and enjoy paddling through the still waters. Smith Creek Recreation Area is frequently used for camping and scouting adventures in the summer. In the fall, it’s the perfect place to hunt waterfowl, fish, hike, and relax.
The Smith Creek Recreation Area features a 20-surface-acre lake that stores 142 acre-feet of water. Constructed in 1983, the Smith Creek dam and reservoir were designed primarily to provide aquifer recharge and recreational opportunities. Waterfowl hunting is permitted in designated areas within the boundaries of the Smith Creek Recreation Area.
If you see vandalism or another illicit activity taking place, please call the sheriff's department immediately: (402) 643-4578.
